List the processes adopted by the project team. Discuss which process is the most critical for the improvement project.

For the Top - 200 process, the project team adopted basic graphing, data analysis to gather information from customer in identifying potential root causes. In the process, the team define Top - 200 customers, daily complaint review and scorecard update, analyze and communicate with sales.

For Lean Six Sigma process, the project team identify chronic problems with structured define, measure, analyze, improve and control (DMAIC) model that causing variation in company's abrasive products and processes.

From the above mentioned processes, data and data analysis were key in both Top - 200 and Lean Six Sigma improvement processes.

By using the 5W1H, the process help to find out the root causes and relationships. For example, gather the data/ information from the key customers about the problem they experience with the product and also belt testing data/ information. It is important process as the team need to understand the root causes with the valid data analysis before implement any improvement project.

With the process of gather data and data analysis, the project team then can identify the external and internal issues that company was facing.  Determine the root causes so that able to develop solutions that specify to the issues. For example, why the customer does not satisfy with the products.
The project team need to find out the reason which they can carry out survey to gather information from key customers.
By understand the reason of customer's dissatisfaction such as quality failure.
The project team can use the data and data analysis to investigate the internal process data if there were any equipment, production failure or other reasons. Thus, the process of gathering data and data analysis is essential for improvement project.

To manage quality, must rely upon data collection and interpretation to measure, guide, and understand customer needs.
The improvement project will not success if there were no data/ information of root causes process. Fail to identify the root causes will lead to wrong solution which did not solve the problems.
